Temi di ricerca
Tugce Karatas (b.1989, Turkey) is curator and researcher with a background in design. Trained at Escola Superior de Artes e Design (Porto) and in Curating Contemporary Design at Kingston University (London), she specialised in the dissemination of design through curatorial practice, research, and writing. As co-founder of Design Atlas, Istanbul-based creative community founded in 2016, she develops project-based collaborations with designers.
Tugce is PhD fellow in Technologies for Cultural Heritage doctoral programme at Torino University where she continues her research and experiments with a focus on an interdisciplinary approach to cultural heritage through design, curation, and information technologies. Her research addresses the impact of digital technologies on the realization of interpretive tools of cultural heritage, especially for multisensory visitor experiences; in this respect, it also investigates the origins and changing interpretations of the term ‘digital curation’. The specific research goal is the development of a framework for studying how digitised (meta)data about cultural heritage assets can be best-integrated through a centralized and active system for the control of digital data and metadata associated with the cultural heritage item. The main outcome of the research will be a digital curation framework which provides a workflow for cultural institutions to create, manage and disseminate both content and context for exhibitions online and on-site.
